Bach competition winners announced

The Eastern Idaho Bach Competition was held Oct. 13 at Riverside Studios in Rexburg.

John Taylor received first place in Division II, for fourth- to sixth-grade students. Ava Rydalch and Natalie Felt were awarded second place and third place, respectively. Honorable mention awards went to Hailey Dalling, Elsie Marcum and Luke Taylor. All are from Rexburg.

Elizabeth Stewart received first place in Division III, for seventh- to ninth-grade students, with Richard Stewart taking second place. Ladriel Wheeler and Michael Wu received honorable mention awards. All four are from Idaho Falls.

First place in Division IV, for 10th- to 12th-grade students, was awarded to John Stewart of Idaho Falls, with Megan Felt of Rexburg placing second. Honorable mention awards went to Daniel Crofts and Lexi Schwartz, both of Idaho Falls.

A grand prize award for the Music Project Fair was given to John Taylor in the display category.

Approximately 30 pianists participated.

Winners received cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates. Dr. Stephen Thomas and Dr. Michael McQuay, both professors of piano at Brigham Young University-Idaho, were event judges.
