McDonald sends Bees to consolation final

Bonneville's Maunayia Harrigfeld (12) is pressured by Boise's Melissa Golf (10) while trying to pass the ball in the Idaho 5A Girls Basketball Championship matchup at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho.

At Nampa, Bonneville’s historical season continued after beating Boise 47-40 in the 5A state consolation bracket behind Cortney McDonald’s 20 points.

Tied at 27-27 heading into the fourth, Bonneville outscored Boise 18-11 to head to their fourth matchup with Highland today at 10 a.m.

“Cortney McDonald was a stud for us and she battled all game long on the offensive and defensive end,” Bonneville coach Amy Wood said. Wood also complimented Sade Williams’ play, saying Williams provided a spark for the Bees. Williams finished with eight points.

The rebounding battle had a factor Friday, as the Bees outrebounded the Braves 34-20. There were seven lead changes and seven ties.

After losing to Mountain View during the 5A opening round, Wood said her team’s season is defined how they bounce back from a loss.

“They played well and never gave up,” Wood said. “Now they’re going into tomorrow looking for some hardware.”

Syd Davis had 12 points for Boise.
