Idaho Lottery earns record $53.5M for state

Butch Otter remembers being one of just two statewide candidates elected after endorsing a controversial state lottery initiative in Idaho in 1986, the first year he ran for lieutenant governor. Otter, now the state’s third-term governor, said, “There was a lot of resistance.”

Lawmakers work on campaign finance reform proposals

A panel of state lawmakers working on campaign finance reform indicated Tuesday it’ll likely push in the upcoming legislative session to extend campaign finance reporting requirements to local elections and require more frequent and more detailed reports.

An Idaho Falls man was killed Tuesday when the semi-tractor trailer he was driving went off the road, flipped on its side and caught fire on Interstate 86 near American Falls.
